Strengthening of Evidence-Based Medicine Skills

The Armenian Association of Neonatal Medicine has launched a series of workshops on Strengthening Evidence-Based Medicine Skills for neonatologists and neonatal nurses of marzes (provinces). A two-day workshop covers the following topics:

  • Joint rounds in the department, discussion of patients, discussion of patients at neonatal units, discussion of pre-selected medical histories, medical assistance provision under the supervision of an AANM specialist, discussion of the use of equipment
  • Respiratory support through application of High-Flow Nasal Cannulas, indications and contraindications, complications
  • Situational problems in management of children with respiratory distress
  • The process of managing medical waste
  • Joint rounds in the department, discussion of patients
  • Discussion of situational problems outlined in advance by the participants
  • A practical session on application of I-gel air pipes
  • Presentation of neonatal standards developed by the AANM

The first two workshops were held in the town of Handan and in the town of Abovyan, respectively on June 26-27 and June 28-29. Training is to be continued.
